How to buy a phone | things to check when buy mobile | checklist to buy a mobile

Whether it's your first or you are planning to upgrade , So before buying the mobile phone we should know some basic of mobile features & technologies before buying phone.

1. Research

Firstly, you need to do a bit of research to figure out what kind of mobile phone you want. Think about your present phone what you do like and what you don't like in current phone. Check with your friends what phone they are using and what is disadvantage on that phone; and then read about some mobile on internet and find out best one in your budget.

 2. Choose the mobile operating system (OS)

First we need to understand what OS and which one should we select, so there are possibility many people not aware of OS ( operating system).

What is mobile operating system?

Like computer window operating system , in same way mobile also need to a operation system to run it all functionality.

A mobile operating system (OS) is the software that allows mobile devices to run applications and other programs. Most mobile operating systems only work on specific hardware. Like, an iPhone runs on iOS and a Google Pixel runs on Android.

Android and iOS is the most player in market nowadays most of phone comes with either Android or iOS, both are a combined 98.7% of the market share in the United States. Android has a slightly larger user base which is largely attributed to its availability on devices from a variety of manufacturers  including HTC, LG, Motorola, Samsung etc dues to its price range from minimum to maximum. Android phones is popular because it comes with low price as high On the other hand, iOS only runs on Apple products and price is too high.

 There are 9 types of operating system available in market as given below :

3. Bada (Samsung Electronics)

4. BlackBerry OS (Research In Motion)

5. Windows Mobile (Windows Phone)

6. MeeGo OS (Nokia and Intel

7. Palm OS (Garnet OS)

8. Symbian OS (Nokia)

9. webOS (Palm/HP)

I am not going to explain about above operating system feature, pros and cons here , we will discuss in separate post.

3. Decide you mobile budget

So after consideration of operation system you need to decide your budget, its important factor because phone feature depend on our budget.

4. Design & Display 

 Design & display matters as per requirement, if you see movies and browsing internet then large size is good and also check resolutions. a good resolution should be like 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~403 ppi density) , check phone ppi its matter for picture quality. Large screens are ideal if you browse the web, watch videos, or play games a lot etc but you looking for general voice call and chat is then small is also ok. Price vary as per screen design & display so it also depend on your budget, smaller screens tend to be cheaper.

5. Hardware & Memory

 While buying phones, we should think about speed, check phone CPU, Memory, Chipest & OS. Today’s mobile phones being used for storing music and images & videos, storage and connectivity have become important considerations. Some phones will have some fixed memory and storage to store their images, music, and downloaded content - but chances are that you will need some more space. 

 Most of phones  offer expandable storage via memory cards (SD Cards)  - there are a variety of formats, SD cards comes with different storage size and speed, Which you can select as per your budget.

 If phone has a dedicated slot for SD card it is best, because you can use 2 SIM and one SD card in same phone. Some phone has not dedicated slot so read before buy. Check internal memory of your phone it should be in different size like 64GB 4GB RAM, 64GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM.

6. Connectivity & Network

Next we look connectivity, we are looking good phone so connectivity is also a important factor for the mobile phone. Is it 2G, 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi? Well it all depends on your usage and your data plans as well. Phone WLan should be Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot . Check Bluetooth technology is latest like 5.0, A2DP, LE. You can also check phone USB type like USB Type-C 2.0 which is in your phone.

Todays smart phone come with sensor so check it your phone is there or not . Like Fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass Unless you are not on an unlimited data plan I suggest you don't choose a 4G phone. It's going to cost you a bomb! If you still want to surf the internet, then go for a Wi-Fi phone. But then you will need to find a Wi-Fi hotspot every time you want to connect to the internet and surf. Wi-Fi phones are also very good for those who intend to run VoIP software to make calls.

7. SIM Type

Check phone SIM type is Single SIM (Nano-SIM) or Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)

8. Main Camera

It is only the latest generation of mobile phones that have cameras with anything more than novelty value. It is the feature everyone using daily frequently.

Check this feature if you more fond of photography , for clicking best picture your cameras should be good megapixel like 25 MP, f/1.7, 26mm (wide).  Cameras should have feature like LED flash, panorama, HDR etc.

 9. Selfie Camera

Selfie is very common word nowadays and your phone Selfie Cameras should be good as it todays trend to take Selfie either family or work place. So before buying you need to check,  what are the best selfie phones you can get?

Mostly every smartphone on the market has a selfie camera, so you would need to go through every device and check the selfie cameras quality.

SO check the camera hardware and software to take your self-portraits to the next level, while considering value for money too.

10. Mp3 Player

Many phones are now including mp3 in the phones. Most phone manufacturers are including this facility these days. The sound quality varies from model to model, but in some cases is equivalent to a dedicated mp3 player.  The quality that your mp3's are encoded at will have a greater impact upon the quality of sound - better quality files sound better, but take up more space - the amount of tracks you want to listen to and the storage of the phone/memory card will determine the best bitrate to use.

 11. Battery

While buying phone check battery, if your phone battery is not good it will die soon. Battery mAH is very important to check. If phone has has Li-Po 4000 mAh it would be good.

12. Check Review & Rating

In last before buying ready some review and rating where users has shared their experience with particular phone, it will help to decide to buy or not to buy.
